Total $2,132.99

Excluding cash inflow of $187.00 we have a balance of $1,945.99. Coming back! I need a fire to light under Apple and Weatherford. Weatherford (WFT) was smoking today!  Up +4.28%.  I picked up some more WFT this morning.  I didn't get it for a rock bottom price, but I'm happy with the closing price.  With the recent news of increased production of oil in Saudi Arabia, WFT should get a nice lift in it's stock price over the next few months, as WFT has a strong presence in the Middle East.  Remember this stock was trading in excess of $26.00 a share roughly 6 weeks ago.  WFT has plenty of room to run.  For all of you that follow charts this appears to be the 2nd day of a bullish upward trend.  With trading volume in excess of 27 Million shares today, I'd say someone is buying this stock like crazy.  I don't like to chase stocks, but I believe WFT will continue to go up. It feels good to have both Apple and WFT up on the same day. Maybe I will finally get a break with the Monster Portfolio 2011!

Monster Portfolio 2011 Week 10 Results

MONSTER PORTFOLIO 2011

Total $1990.97

Balance: Week 10 03/21/11
$1,988.23 Stock
$41.16 Cash
Total $2,029.39

Excluding cash inflow of $170.00 we have a balance of $1,859.39. So I’m 10 weeks in and I haven’t made a dime. LOL! What can I say, but the fact is stocks are struggling right now. I’m heavily weighted in Apple and they were hit with a downgrade last week, which sent the stock down hard. It’s not the time to cut and run and for the time being my portfolio will be negatively impacted. As of yesterday the tide may turn in Apple’s favor with the announcement of AT&T to acquire T Mobile. If the deal goes through Apple will have an additional 34 million new customers to convert over to the iPhone. It’s a winning deal for Apple. I’m not the least bit worried about Apple. Over the past 2 days Apple has went up $10.23 a share or 3.18% from Friday’s close. It’s a start! Lastly, I would like to say that oil really has a strangle hold on this market. I’m all for profit, but $105 a barrel for crude oil is hurting the consumer. I see it on a daily basis. People are driving less and its hurting the pocket book enough to detour spending. If we can get back to $90 oil we should be good to go!

Since Inception: -6.61% overall (It’s a nightmare for now. Patience is the key for Apple owners and I’m one of them)

MONSTER PORTFOLIO 2011

Total $1990.97

Balance: Week 9 03/14/11
$2,097.09 Stock
$24.16 Cash
Total $2,121.25

Excluding cash inflow of $153.00 we have a balance of $1,968.25. Though the portfolio has taken a step back from week 8 results I’m still happy with the performance over the past week. With the continued pressure from oil prices and the terrible disaster in Japan I expect stocks to be volatile in the short term. On a positive note stocks are getting cheaper and that gives everyone an opportunity to buy some stock on the cheap. If I had more money to buy stocks I would look into buying some Ford (F). The stock was up 2.59% on a horrible down day. The chart looks good as I believe Ford has hit a base. With the positive action today I would be throwing my money that way! Also, I would accumulate more Apple (AAPL) down -2.30% today. Don’t be shaken out of Apple. Nothing has changed and the stock is a bargain in the 240’s. Lastly, I would put my money to work in Caterpillar (CAT). Caterpillar is busier than ever and they will play a big part in the recovery of Japan.

Excluding cash inflow of $136.00 we have a balance of $1,995.55. Finally the Monster Portfolio 2011 is back in the black! The portfolio is up $4.58! Hey I’ll take it. After taking a beating back on week 2 I have managed to gain some traction. As you can see I have a new holding in my portfolio and that bad boy is Weatherford International (WFT) Yes! I love trading this company. It just so happens WFT was torched on Wednesday of last week, due to the incorrect tax calculations on earnings from 2007-2010. Not to worry as this issue will be addressed. We don’t care about the past, but the future of WFT. The future is a higher stock price. I snatched of some stock with the cash I had on hand on Wednesday during the weakness. I wish I could buy more, but my funds are tied up with other companies. WFT is still a buy and if I was you I would buy some Weatherford International.

Watch Weathford (WFT) Tomorrow!

Keep an eye on WFT tomorrow.  I didn't see this news until after I posted my blog.  WFT has run into some tax issues.  I wouldn't worry to much, but with the pressure in Libya many will look to knock the stock down short term to make people panic because of WFT assets in Libya.  This news is a bunch of smoke and mirrors.  Don't fret on the short term bad news.  If possible start buying in the mid $21's if the opportunity arises.  This is a great buying opportunity!!!!

Sorry for the delay. I was in the process of buying a new car yesterday. Had to celebrate a bit with my wife!

Excluding cash inflow of $119.00 we have a balance of $1,968.78. From last week the Monster Portfolio tacked on $15.79 or +.08%. I’m very happy with this week’s results as the stock market as a whole was quite volatile and a lot of money was given back over the past few days. I can contribute the positive gain to Westport Innovations (WPRT). With the uncertainty of oil this stock has definitely come back into favor as alternative energy will continue to be enticing to the fund managers that look to profit off high oil prices. From my first purchase of WPRT at $15.86 back on 01/31/11 and my recent sell on Thursday 02/24/11 at $18.16 I managed to lock in a +14.5% gain excluding transaction fees. Not too bad for 24 days of work. I did sell out of WPRT, but I believe this crude oil scare is a bit overdone and WPRT had a quick move too far too fast. I will reenter back into WPRT when the moment is right. For the time being I will sit on some cash to determine my next move.
